It's official. The doctor is now setting up weekly IV iron infusions. i thought maybe it would be once a month but they decided that i need more than that since i have absolutely no iron stored in my body. A normal ferritin level for a woman should be between 18-160. My ferritin level is 4. The doctor said he would be happy if he could just get it to a 13. my hemoglobin level is one point away from getting a blood transfusion. Now that would really suck.
i do not have good veins…they are really small. The last few times i've needed an IV, i was stuck at least twice. The good thing is that i know all the nurses in the infusion center because Taylor has been going there for over a year…first because of her P.I.C.C line and now for monthly port flushes.
Part of me just doesn't want to be sitting in a recliner getting IV meds for a couple of hours each week. There are so many more things i could be doing. However, i already hear my Master's voice in my head telling me i need to be healthy and he doesn't care if i have to sit for 10 hours, i have to do what is best for my health. That's a pretty accurate quote…right Master? *smiles*
While i might complain about it, i am looking forward to not feeling so run down and tired all the time. i know with the IV iron, my energy level will come back to normal. i am definitely looking forward to that.
