Today has been a very long day. i think being the patient is sometimes better. Waiting at the hospital all day just sucks the life right out of you. Poor Master had to then come home and go teach. He was really dragging when he left here this evening. i will admit that it is awesome having him there with me. It is so awesome to have someone who is there for me no matter what. He definitely has a calming affect on me and i could never convey how much i appreciate him being there with me.
Taylor came through the surgery like a trooper. She’s been lying in her bed since we got home, reading her new car magazine. The doctor loaded up the surgical site with a numbing medicine when he finished up. That has kept her very comfortable. The nurse thought it would last about 4-6 hours so i went ahead and gave her something for the pain at about the 5 hour mark. With Taylor, it’s best to try and stay ahead of the pain.
Talking with the doctor before the surgery really drove home how serious this issue was. The surgeon really expected the call this past week that said the implant was hanging out of her chest. He had been thinking of how he was going to fix this all week. He had even talked to the VNS rep to see what the best option was. The whole surgery hinged on how long the leads were and if he could manipulate them without damaging them. That would have involved a much bigger surgery.
He ended up putting the implant closer to the muscle in her chest, so he thought she might be a little more sore than normal, but with Taylor we always have to see when it comes to pain.
She was really good this morning before surgery. She was quiet and calm while waiting on the surgery. i’m just hoping that everything keeps going smoothly. i am still a little nervous since the last time she had this surgery, she ended up with a hematoma/post-op infection. i will definitely be keeping an eye on the incision.
i’m sure there are other details that i need to add to this journal, but i’m just too tired to think anymore. There’s always tomorrow’s entry to add to. i think i’m going to go lay in the bed with Taylor for a few minutes. She can be so snuggley for being 6 feet tall. *smiles*

It is good to hear she came through w/out a hitch!!! Hopefully your Master gets much needed rest tonight.
A long day, but everything went so smoothly. I do hope it continues in that same path...
I love you
