There has been a bit of a discussion in a lifestyle group i belong to about what makes a slave/submissive feel owned. Anyway, that discussion got me thinking about collars and the wearing of them.
There are many kinds of collars. Not all collars are worn around the neck. i’ve known some slaves/submissives that, for whatever reason, couldn’t wear a “traditional” collar. They wore a special bracelet or anklet. i even had a friend who wore a belly chain. No matter where you wear it, it is still a “collar”.
So, is the wearing of a “collar” what makes you feel owned? For me, the answer would have to be no. i feel owned because of the amount of control my Master has over me. i wanted/needed an absolute Master/slave relationship and that is what i have now.
Having said that, my collar is very important to me. i wear an Eternity collar. It’s become such a part of me that i don’t even feel it. However, i do “feel” my collar when it’s not there. The couple of times i’ve had to have it taken off, such as surgeries or hospitalization, i have felt very weird. It’s become such a part of who i am and when i reach up and can’t feel it, i feel a little lost.
There are times when i can just touch it and feel the reassurance that what it stands for offers. It’s also a sign of the commitment my Master and i have to each other and our relationship in the same way a wedding ring is the symbol for marriage. This is just my 2 cents on the subject of a collar.
